The Leadership Region of AITP

Welcome to the Region 18 Association of Information Technology Professionals website. Region 18, known as the “Leadership Region” includes Ohio, Western Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia and North Carolina. We are part of a National Association over 4500 members strong, and have professional and student chapters across the Continental United States and Hawaii.

We invite you to participate in our activities by attending a Chapter or Region event; Please see the list of Chapters on the sidebar to locate one near you. You can also join the Region as an independent member if there is not a Chapter in your locale.

Region 18 from time-to-time hosts conference events. These events consist of a combination of technical, management and leadership education – skills necessary to function well in today’s business environment. Some conferences run such that one or two overnight stays are involved, along with travel expenses. Other conferences, branded IT Con, are one-day conferences meant to draw people from the local area, though they are open to any region member and anyone in the IT community at large. In addition, local Chapters have regular meetings and activities that also promote technology education and encourage networking. If you are not already a member, why not consider joining the association of choice for IT professionals. If you are a member, thanks for your continued support of Region 18 and also your local Chapter of AITP.

History

AITP, formerly Data Processing Management Association, or DPMA, has existed for over 50 years. The organization has changed to focus not on a single technology or platform, but the entire IT arena in support of its diverse membership. Region 18 was formed in 1989 with the merger of Regions 8 and 10. The purpose of the merger was to provide the members of the chapters in each of the regions with better opportunities, resources and benefits in addition to a united “voice” at the National level. Because of the outstanding leadership and management training that has been its trademark, Region 18 is known as “The Leadership Region” within AITP.

Mission

The mission of the Leadership Region is to add long-term value to its members by:

  • Providing professional and leadership development for IT Professionals
  • Creating opportunities to network with other IT Professionals and prepare for the future
  • Staying on the forefront of information technology through education
